I've had chronic, throbbing pain in the upper part of my left leg for quite some time now. It doesn't matter whether I am sitting or standing. What might cause this?

Lower back problems sometimes cause leg pain, even without any back pain. I've had this problem off & on for the past few years and I've been to both an MD and a chiropractor. They both told me it was a lower back problem.

it could be sciatic, it started in my lower back, after 6 weeks of therapy
for my back, the pain now is now in my upper leg, i have had pain
every morning since february, my orthopedic surgeon took x rays and
said there is nothing wrong, but if it got worse to come back for an
mri. he did say that smoking could cause this too. your best bet is
to get x rays and and mri to find out the real problem.

Sciatic nerve pain. The nerve in your lower back is being pinched and is causing shooting pain down your left leg. You may want to see your Dr to see about this.
