You would seek the guidance of a psychiatric medical professional who would be qualified to make such an assessment.

I'm bipolar and whenever people find out they almost always say "OMG, seriously?" because I don't act like it, and I don't seem like it. There are lots of mental illnesses that have symptoms very similar to bipolar, and I don't think you should go trying to determine if you are or aren't. I did the same thing, only I thought I was suffering from severe depression. If you think you have a mental illness, go to a doctor. If you don't think that, then be happy, and go live life!

You should never claim an illness. If you think you have a problem, then the smart thing would be to go to a doctor and let him take your information and go from there. Sometimes there is a very simple solution. If you are not sure if you have bipolar, then you do not have it. I know 2 people that have it and believe me you would know it.
