How can a Best Answer chosen by Asker be a violation?

i got one yesterday and another one today... now, tell me who is being singled out here?

What kind of reporters do we have here? is reporters the right term or just reporters with one master?

Rod it's not just here that this is happening. I spend some time answering at 'Yahoo Answers' and nearly every third question is 'why did I get this violation'

From what I have been able to fathom out this is the way the 'violation system' works.

1/ Certain types of questions and answers (mainly swearing) get deleted automatically. I also think that if you don't include the question mark the same occurs.

2/ A minimum of 2 people need to report a question/answer. These people need to be very reputable reporters to succeed. Generally it probably takes 3 or 4 people or even more. All this is done with no human intervention by Yahoo.

3/ The human intervention comes when you 'the violated person' lodge an appeal. If your appeal is successful the ones who reported you then lose some of their credibility (that is how you get your revenge). Next time it may take 4 or 5 people and so it goes on.

I really doubt that Level 1 people could possibly be responsible for any violations

Don't just sit there and accept the violation lodge a strong appeal and get a bit of your own back.

Edit: An answer being judged Best Answer does not give it security from a violation.

Ive had someone report a violation on a question very old, like from several months ago, while going thru questions and voting on best answer. I feel thats very petty since no one is going to view the question again anyway, but THEM People in Polls and Surveys get by with more than in other categories, because its a lot of young teens. They took it over as the gathering spot, and they dont report each other. Thus, a lot of violations arent reported.

I got that a couple of times recently too. I think it's trolls and a troll master at work. I mean a lot of legit regulars here don't even bother reporting clone trolls or malicious questions of clone trolls so i think the trigger happy reporter(s) are not regulars here and their targets are people who voice out their disgust and dismay to the troll master's ridiculous questions.

You are not alone. I don't know how the YA Answers team decide on reports of abuse or violation of a community guideline and on what basis to do their judgment. I wish they were more thorough in their investigation of how true or false an accusation or report is before they act on their decision. Like in a courtroom, a judge hears both sides before making judgment. This should also be how the team should do it in order to give the supposed violator a chance to air his/her side and find out whether the report is factual or not. And if the report is wrong, to give the reporter his/her due for falsely reporting on abuse or violation. Let them be fair to all, I should say.

I've had a few strange things happen too. Questions which disappeared for no apparant reason, listed only as 'removed'. Best answers cannot always be relied upon as I have seen some which I knew to be wrong (regarding hotel locations, flights etc) which still got voted best..

Same reason why you guys reported me! My Answers, My Questions! I've been here for a long time and been suspended many times... What's new?

  • 1 decade ago

I have no idea.I read your question yesterday but when I go back and browse again... vanished.

The yahoo I think is so busy to scrutinize the ground of questions reported.I careless though.

But yeah..little by little it's fading my interest in YA.Oh well what's new in me..I easily get bored.

Don't let it ruin your day Ms.Rodelette.

    I have no idea.

And I was a recent victim myself, so what else is new.

My bet is that someone reported you for the same "reason" I got my violation.
