Is it warped that celebrities are given thousands of $$$ worth of swag??
At the Grammy's, Sundance Film Festival, Super Bowl parties, etc. I understand why the companies give their products to the celebrities... for the exposure and 'status'. But celebrities, in general, have millions of dollars and could afford to pay for anything they want, but these companies give them diamond watches and jewelry, clothes worth hundreds or thousands of dollars and who knows what else. I just find it a little f'ed up that the ultra-rich (who may or may not deserve all of their money) are given more and more while there are people who don't even have the basics.
Opinions??
I'm not saying the celebrities shouldn't accept it. I guess it's just more the state of our society and its priorities.

The only way it will ever change is if the general buying public were to SMARTEN UP and QUIT BUYING things they see celebrities wearing, carrying, or using.
They get the free stuff because it's considered free advertising - too many people want to be like Paris or Britney or ? and will buy things they see on the celebrity. These items show up in tabloid pictures and kids with "more money than brains" decide they just HAVE TO HAVE ONE TOO.
It never ceases to amaze me how many families make sure their kids have the latest fashions, toys and gadgets, but have no money left to pay for basics like rent, heat, light and food for their kids.

It's just a part of being a celeb. I'm sure if you were a celeb and got handed a bunch of cool things like a free sidekick3 or a nice Gucci dress you would say thanks instead of giving it back. Besides, if a celeb said no, the company that gave the stuff to them would think that he or she was rude.

It's not just the stuff that's given to them. I remember reading how one actress did a towel commercial then loaded up all the towels in the studio and took them home like they were due to her! No one said no.
