If I send a cheque in pound stirling will she find it difficult to cash this at her bank?

    Yes. It can be difficult to cash foreign currencies in the US.

    Have you thought about using Paypal?

    Use a financial institution that has MoneyGram. You give them the money and within 10 minutes your friend can receive it at a MoneyGram institution in the US. It is a very small fee (much less than wiring money or Western Union).

    Paypal's fees are lower than moneygram or western union.

    Yes but if you use WESTERN UNION or MONEY GRAM it will turn it into USD when she picks it up.

    just google it ( western union or money gram ) and see where it is available in your country

    there is a fee $15-30
