Why when rock bands incorperate rap into their music it's still considered rock?

The opposite is true too. When rapper makes a song with a rock beat (even with live instruments) it's still a rap song. Why is that?

Because the instrumentation is still the same..

Bulls on parade have a very heavy funk metal instrumentation with manic drums and distorted/overdriven guitars and heavy heavy bass.

As for gangsters and thugs.. its not actually a rock song.

Tim armstrong himself said its a drum and bass inspired song.. It is considered a rock song possible because Tim and travis are both ROCK music orientated.

Its more so called alternative rock or alternative rap...if two genres are mixed...thats makes it a lot easier...because they have many subnames for this type of style...example trip hop, horror core rap, emo, nu metal...etc..smh

Because some people would actually hate to just admit that music is music....and if you fuse some genre's it might provide SOME cohesion between two different music groups..........

I think it goes by the band's dominant genre. EVERYONE is classified now, it just depends on what genre or subgenre they "fit" into....
