My Windows PC won't recognize my iPod when I connect both with the USB...?

About 4 days ago, I connected my USB from my iPod to my Windows PC and neither Windows nor iTunes recognized my iPod. I got the 2nd Generation iPod nano for Christmas, and this is the first problem I've had with it. BTW, the iPod still charges when I plug it in, the computer just won't recognize it.

If you have any more specific questions, feel free to email me! I really need help with this. Thank you in advance.

try resetting your ipod while its connected to the computer. find the hold switch on the top of the ipod and switch it on and then off again. then hold down the menu and center buttons at the same time. the screen will go black and then the apple logo will come up, when that comes up you can let go. after that your computer and itunes should recognize it.

if you just got it, it should be unde warranty-- you might need to send it to APPLE to be looked at. Many people don't go through the proper steps to disconnect their IPODS from their computers by going to the USB manager and stopping the process. If its not disconnected correctly it can cause the computer to not recognize it--BTW if the computer won't recognize it then ITUNES won't either. I had same problem and had to get a new one.

there's a lot of this going around, I've found that if you simply go to 'start', 'run', type in services.msc, click 'ok', right click on the icon on the right that says 'apple mobile device' and click restart, this always sorts the problem out for me.
