Good puppy names?

We adopted a 6 week old Golden Retriever/Yellow Lab mixed puppy on Sunday. He looks more golden than lab. Does anyone have a great creative suggestion for a name for him?

Right now we're calling him "Puppy" or "Sweetie" but we need to give him a real name soon (for one thing, he needs a tag with his name on it!).

Some of our ideas so far: Scooby Do, Scrappy, Goldie, Super Dog, Chewy Louie, and Tinker (can you tell I have a seven year old LOL).

I'd like something a little more unique to "fit" with our other dog (Lokai). I thought of Phoenix, Reno, Cobre, Pavlov, and Einstein. Can you give me any other unusual names that would appeal to my desire for something creative AND my son's desire for something cute?

Update:

You're right about that...I keep trying to get him to pick something but he keeps telling me to pick...I'm hoping that if I give him some choices (and reasons for each), he'll be able to decide. I suspect he's a "cat person"...he says that his cat is "his" but the puppy is "ours" *laugh*. He wanted to name his kitten "beautiful"...I gave him some foreign language tranlations and he picked "Bella"...hoping to do the same type of thing this time but I can't get him to narrow it down! LOL

Update 2:

OOPS...the edit above was for Tee Vee...sorry :)

Update 3:

Thanks for all the great ideas...I'll let you know what we decide...I extended the deadline so we could have a few more days to decide...I'm setting a goal for Friday night before bedtime..."see" you then *smile*!

Hello, I think that "Phoenix" is the best. But I say go with the kid! Let your little one make a choice. If the names he pick are not "fit for the tongue" convince him to help pick other names. Your Little one will feel very proud about giving the pup his name! My son gave my shepard his name "Beau" I gave him his name on the license as "Beaudaious" we both loved it very much. And Beau knew his full and nick names!!! TeeVee. Oh yeah, you can use that name if you like it. Smile.

Well, I have one Great Dane (2 1/2) named Sunshine and another Great Dane (8 months) named Midnight. I wouldn't go with Scooby Doo or Scrappy, because they were both Danes. I really like "Chewy Louie", that is cute.

unique names for a dog, are usually named by it's appearance and personallity. I have a happy golden retriever I called him Soleil (which means sun in french and the sun is kinda a positive image which matches his positive personailty) the sun is yellow that matches my dog's colour. You can name your dog in this sort of creative way... but I think you can call your dog "Jing" which means gold in chinese. Oh yeah, you also can name your dog with a celibrity or movie character name, that'll sound cool aswell.... It's up to you

I like bible names the best. Best wishes with the name.

Homer, Able, Amos, Boas, Isaac, Felix, Zoe, Noah. Isaac means laughter, as we know..

Here's boy names that begin with L to possibly fit Lokai

I think Phoenix is a great choice. I love Astronomy and space and when I hear "Phoenix", I think of the sun which is golden just like your puppy. That would suit him well.
