Tir na nOg is an mythological place meaning 'land of the young'. It is part of a group of tales about the Fianna, ancient warriors of Ireland. In this tale, Niamh, a beautiful princess from Tir na nOg approaches the Fianna and takes Oisin, son of Fionn MacCumhaill back to Tir na nOg. After many years he misses home and goes back to find all his family and friends long dead. He stops to help men lift a rock and falls from his horse, he then ages to an old man as time did not age him in Tir na nOg.

tir na n'og was the name of the horse in 'into the west' and wasn't a dodgy belly band for a horse oisin's undoing when he left tir na n'og, as in falling from the horse he touched the ground and his true age came upon him....the fionnsceal as they're called in the gaelige
