Paint color needed for "earthy" home!?
I have a new office set- it's cherry wood, so it's sorta dark, but not the darkest that you see in stores. I am trying to find a color to paint the walls. The rest of my house is really "earthy"- everything is dark taupe, grayish-brown, sage green, avocado green, chocolate. What can I paint the office so that it coordinates with my "earthy" motif, and still looks good with the darker furniture?

Do it in a light tan and accent with the browns, avocado that you have in the rest of your home. Example: Window treatments, pictures, silk arrangments. Get a desk chair that is an armless, fabric covered dining room chair with fabric to the floor and put rollers on the legs. It is so comfortable and so pretty!

Come to Lowe's! your painting problem will be solve, Lowes has a software that you can buy; try to all colors for your wall, trim, and even your furniture, bath room, bedroom etc. Lowes associates are very knowledgeable about paint colors. You can also buy that CD so you can take picture of your wall and then put them in your computer and run that cd and upload your photos and start mixing colors. and you can experiment which color you would wish to paint. Also try buying glamour homes magazine to get some ideas. how paint relates to object and decor. Sometimes color matching is really up to you how you would want your house to look like, either Oprah's house, Crowford, or Jlo.

I would consider bookmarker red by Olympic paints.
I saw this red in a piece of granite and went about matching. I started at Lowe's and found it in this color by Olympic Paints.
This color has given my living room a very nice warm feeling.
Just a suggestion if you decided to consider it for your self.
Paint it against the wall the desk faces..
Also get the matching primer.
I added ground granite to my paint for a sparkle effect for light catching.
I also decided on satin rather than flat.

I love the colors you have chosen for your house, if this office is small, I would go with a light color like a cream with a hint of yellow, or eggshell with a hint of a darker color in it, I would keep it light so that the furniture will pop of the walls, sounds cozy.

a brick red (clay colored), but it can be overwhelming. if you did this on one wall and a cream color on the others it would look nice, especially if you have green plants in the room.
green would work as well as long as it it not a bright green. i like greens between forest and olive.
