    In addition to M. Scott Momaday, you might look at Leslie Silko (Ceremony is a classic) Louise Erdrich and Sherman Alexie.

    Here is a decent list of notable Native American authors from the Chicago public library. There are of course also novels about Native Americans written by non-Native Americans, such as Tony Hillerman.

    Linda Lay Shuler - Writes of the Anasazi

    Sue Harrison - Tales of Artic Native people

    And Where White Men Fear to Tread by Russell Means is a wonderful autobiography and gives a rare view of the Modern Native American Experience.
