1) Marley Marl (he came up with 75% of producer innovations that we take for granted today)

2) DJ Premier (when you can become a formulaic hip hop producer and all your stuff STILL sounds dope, you know you're good; plus he's branched out into rock--Limp Bizkit-- and pop--Christiana Aguilera-- and done his dang thing there too)

3) Dr. Dre (he created the West Coast sound) and pretty much has the Midas touch)

4) Organized Noize (they invented the classic Atlanta sound for OutKast and Goodie MOb; may also be the most talented MUSICIANS that have ever been hip hop producers--they NEVER use samples or interpolations, which was unheard of when they first debuted)

5) Pete Rock (along with Premier, basically defined the sound of early 90s hip hop; no other producer has ever used horn samples as well as him)
