how do i cange from internet explorer to fiefox and does it harm anythink?

you just end up with 2 browsers... firefox being the default browser. To be honest...you really won't notice any great difference between the 2. It's just trendy to slag off anything microsoft.

All of the answers saying Firefox is better than IE are correct, however at this time download Firefox 2 as Firefox 3 is still in its testing phase, you can always upgrade when the final release is ready. Once you have got used to Firefox I doubt that you will use IE much, as even without any add-ons (of which there are too many to list), it is more secure than IE (even IE7). The only reason that the majority of people use IE is that it is part of Windoze and are too lazy or too afraid to try something different.

To try it will do no harm (except to Microsoft) and you will see what you have been missing. Even without any add-ons my favourite feature is the simplest,

highlight a peice of text on a web page and right click, it will give an option to search with (the default is Google but you can change it to Yahoo), a new tab will open with the search result making on the fly searches a breeze.

Despite Microsoft adding tabs to IE7 you will not regret changing, if you haven't yet used Firefox you will be amazed at how much more you can do with the numerous add-ons, an example being IETab which allows websites (and Hotmail) that have been designed to work best with IE work perfectly with Firefox.

It's a hundred times better and then some! It's very easy, just visit http://www.mozilla.com/ and download the latest version, quick 5 minute install and you can even copy your bookmarks etc from Internet Explorer over! You'll get a message too that says make firefox your default browser, hit yes and everything should open in firefox (all except hotmail when going through msn i find!)

i will cause no problems and you will still have internet explorer installed if you dont like it..

Download Firefox, I run both at the same time.

Heres what to do:

Download Firefox, http://www.firefox.com/

Then install it,

Then when it ask's you do you want to import history, favourites and other data into firefox click yes

Then if it asks you do you wan't firefox to be your DEFAULT BROWSER say yes
