    I suppose the first real novels were the romance novels, so called because they were written in romance languages, languages descended from the Roman's Latin, Italian, French and Spanish. Finding the very first one of these would be difficult. However, you can find ones that were written. Perhaps Le Mort d'Arthur if you want one in non English.

    By the way, Modern English is a rather young language, less that 500 years old

    The novel is an English invention. In other languages there are some Japanese and Chinese candidates; some see Rabelais' Gargantua as the first novel. In my opinion, episodic though it is, the first other-language novel is Voltaire's Candide.

    I dont know...most of the books that were written really early were actually not in English....

    Probably so long ago that It's not well documented, and probably very debatable. It's not like English was the first language to exist.
