Its where you dont pay tax on products, and i think it depends where you buy it outward or inward prices vary depending on which country you are travelling to and from.

The only place you get true duty free goods is in areas known as 'Free Ports'.

200 cigs free of all tax should be about £6.

As long as the cigs are for your own use and they are tax paid in country of purchase (EU only - not Gibraltar, not Canary Islands) you can bring back whatever you want. UK customs say limit is 3200 per person. Basically this means if you have more they can start asking you questions but it is now up to them to prove they are not for your own use and not the other way round.

Provincial UK airports do not usually have a team of customs if flights are from EU only. They only descend in force after some prior tip off.

Take from somebody with a lot of travel experience!

DO NOT buy your "duty free's" from airport shops! Get them from tobacconists in the country you are visiting! You will save up to 40%!

All depends were you are if you are in Europe you can bring 3,200 cigs or 3 Kilos of tobacco. Anywhere else its only 200. As Bob P says buy them out of a tobacconist.
