PS3's are extremely reliable. I believe the failure rate is around 3%, compared to around 30% for the 360. It's a very versatile machine. With Blu-Ray, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Media Sharing capabilities; there isn't much it can't do.
Despite what some say, the PS3 already has a stellar lineup of games. Resistance, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, CoD4, Assassin's Creed, and many more games are available now. The game lineup for 08 is amazing. Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo 5, Haze, Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Final Fantasy13, Final Fantasy Versus 13, and Resistance 2 are just a few games that will be out in 08.
At the moment , Live is a slightly better online experience. The Playstation Network is very stable though. I never experience lag and I'm wireless. It just doesn't have some of the community aspects that Live does. No cross game chat or messaging yet. However, when Playsation Home comes out this will all change. It should be out in the next couple months. Check the link below for a video preview of Home. You will not bedisappointed when you get a PS3.

It would be worth seeing how strong your broadband connection is to your PS3, if it is wired it is obviously at 100% but if not it is worth checking out. If it is wired you should test your connection speed. You can do this by going on a pc and going to the website pasted below for a braodband test, it takes 2 minutes and is quite accurate. Anything below 1MB is extremely slow. There are ways of increasing wireless connection strength e.g hook 2 routers together, mobile internet dongles or simply moving the PS3 closer to the router. Failing that you can contact the PS3 team through the website.

I have a ps3 and a x360....I personally like the ps3 better. It has better features. Plus the 360, if you move it while it's on will ruin your disks. I've had the both since Christmas and honestly haven't had any problems with either. I know I've had 3 friends who had 360's though, and all have had to send theirs back to the manufacturer due to various issues. No one I know has had any problems with the Ps3. Good luck!

They are releasing new 360s with the problem fixed ps3 has no good games, they already test released it secretly with the halo 3 360s. So if u get a new one you shouldnt have a problem with RED LIGHT OF DOOOOOOOM!!!

I had both systems and my xbox also got the "lights," but my ps3 is still running strong. I've had it a little over a year now.

Why dont you send your xbox for a repair? It doesnt cost anything for the 3 red lights... God you impatient kid. It doesnt even take that long to get fixed..
Whatever.. meet you on ps3: OmegaJH
