World War 1 question/British POW's?
I have looked through numerous search engines trying to find out where in Germany possible World War 1 (Great War) military POW camps were located with little or no success and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I am doing research on my family specifically my Grandfather
who was captured by the Germans in 1917 near Ypres Belgium and sent to a POW camp until the war ended. I'm not looking for his specific camp but POW camps in particular but as I said I am having a very difficult time locating any information.
Will appreciate any help...Thanks!

Hi Steve, having similar problems. My grandfather was captured very early in the war. He was sent to a German POW camp called Soltau Z 143 in Hanover Provinz. I have a photo of him with his other regimental mates in the camp. It was so weird that a photo was taken of them and sent to my grandads sister in London from the actual POW camp ! My dad remembers him telling stories of what a terrible place it was. He told my dad that they were so starved, they ate the bark from trees to fill up their stomachs and caught rats to eat !! I'm about to join the anglo-german society as my grandads dad was German Apparently they can be a great help when tracing family history - might be worth a try ! Also try www.1914-1918invasionzone.com...appears to have some very knowledgable 'World War' buffs on there - they may be able to help ?
