  • why didn't the 4 Navy Seals in Lone Survivor wear body armor?

Was it because of the distance they had to travel from the drop off point to their over watch position? I have always wondered that (no wearing of body armor) since reading the book and the number of times these men were shot as I couldn't figure out why.

    Thank you.

  • Soviet military history?

anyone have an idea of the 'definitive' book(s) of the war in Russia from 1941-1945 after the German invasion?

A months ago I spotted a book online written by a russian author born around 1911 and it was called then, the 'definitive history' of the russian/soviet military in world war two and was about a 1000 pages plus, but as usual, Mr Knucklehead here forgot to write down both the title and author and I've been searching for it since...any ideas, suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • World War 1 question/British POW's?

I have looked through numerous search engines trying to find out where in Germany possible World War 1 (Great War) military POW camps were located with little or no success and am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I am doing research on my family specifically my Grandfather

who was captured by the Germans in 1917 near Ypres Belgium and sent to a POW camp until the war ended. I'm not looking for his specific camp but POW camps in particular but as I said I am having a very difficult time locating any information.

    Will appreciate any help...Thanks!

  • "Sleeper Picks" for Fantasy Football...................?

Ok, fantasy football is starting and looking for some sleepers for each position.....

    QB

    WR

    RB

    TE

    Defense

Your reasons as to why would also be helpful. As for myself, I like the following:

QB - Trent Green MIA - I think he will have a huge impact and will want to prove he is healthy and the Chiefs made a huge mistake in not keeping him

RB - Michael Bush OAK...when the dust settles he will emerge as the feature back in the offense as will M. Lynch of BUF.

WR - Drew Bennett of STL & D Givens TEN way down the list. Bennett will stretch the field for Holt and Givens will become Youngs favorite receiver.

TE - Randy McMichael STL - see Bennett above.

Eric Johnson NO - will become Bress favorite target if he can stay healthy

DEF - I really like Jacksonville, they started to gel last year and the NY Jets D is very underrated.

Thanks in advance for your opinions & input!

  • "24" fans...what do you think........?

the plot line(s) for next season will be and do you think Doyle (Rick Schroeder) will return?

Anyone know of the possibility of the author Vince Flynn's main character Mitch Rapp being introduced as a new CTU agent next season? His web site says he is in talks with the 24 producers to bring his character (Rapp) to the small screen.....if you have read any of his books, you would Rapp would be the perfect compliment to Jack in every way. Just curious if anyone has heard anything?

  • transmissions and radiators.....?

I am having the transmission in my 2003 Dodge Neon replaced (under warranty) but when I took it in, the dealership said I also needed the radiator replaced because of what it has to do in conjunction with the transmission. I'm still skeptical of the explaination I got, so can someone explain to me what the relationship between the trans and radiator is...I'm not mechanically inclined and have looked on line for explainations to this but to no avail. Any assistance is appreciated

What player or players would YOU pick up in fantasy baseball? I'm looking for someone way under the radar or are just now exerting their presence (like Josh Hamilton) as I am looking for ideas to 'spice' up a team of mine.

Please be specific as to why.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Can anyone explain what the Galactic Disk Plane is, what exactly is meant by the term Galactic Oscillation and how it correlates with the Solar Star crossing it and how that may influence asteroid/comet impacts on Earth when our system crosses this plane?

An explaination in layman's terms would be appreciated!

  • Compulsary National Service.?

I saw a question about the draft maybe being re-established (I was drafted in the Army in 1968) and am wondering how people would feel if you had to do 2 years National Service, not in the military but somewhere like hospitals, working with the disabled, etc.,

Would you be willing to do it, if so why? If not, why not?

I would appreciate hearing your thoughts.
