A correlation between the frequency of UFO sightings and the increase in CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere?

There is a dramatic increase of UFO sightings since the 1940s. Starting with the "Foo fighter" incidents that occurred during WWII, the frequency of UFO sightings have amplified from a super rare UFO sighting to an almost worldwide everyday phenomenon.

In addition to the frequency of UFO sightings since the 1940s, suddenly there is an annual increase in CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere which can be seen in the Mauna Loa curve provided in the link below.

Could there be a link?

There is also a correlation with the number of people committing acts of pre-marital sex, the number of deaths due to cancer, and the population of Bolivia.

    Correlations are meaningless.

Some people here don't understand the meaning of correlation. Two data trends have a corellation if they appear to have any relation. Two things increasing over a certain time period is a correlation.

However, correlation does not imply causation. It's a logical fallacy to assume that there is a causal relationship between two things that are correlated with each other. When a correlation exists in the absense of a causal relationship, it is usually referred to as a coincidence. I can think of no real plausable theories as to why a causal relationship exists between CO2 levels and UFO sightings, but I can think of a lot of plausable theories as to why it is a coincidence.

CO2 emissions rising is very likely a consequence of the rapid industrialization of the world over the time period given. That's an easy one.

As far as increased UFO sightings, well the amount of aircraft flying in the sky has increased steadily in the given time period. A UFO is simply something in the air you cannot identify, and I'm sure many reported sightings are simply aircraft the individual couldn't identify correctly. Secondly, a rapid increase in intrest in space exploration began not long after 1940 as space programs in many countries began to take off. In addition, science fiction stories that frequently featured intelligent extraterrestrials were becoming more popular reading in this time period. All of this fuels the imagination and the human imagination is good at helping us see things in a way that we'd like to see them despite what they really may be. As the idea of UFOs being alien ships became popular, I'm sure many people enjoyed playing hoaxes involving alien spacecraft to become a part of the sensationalism surrounding it.

Provide me with a theory as sound as all that about why there is a causal relationship between the two items mentioned and then maybe we can talk about the potential relationship implied by the original question.

We are pumping shitloads of co2 into the atmosphere, and have been doing so at an ever-increasing rate since the industrial revolution. we've been flying since the early 1900's, and in WWII manned flight became frequent. Oddly, this is about the same time that UFO sightings first appeared. There are the occasional reports in older texts about people seeing odd things in the sky, but the rate of these accounts correlate to the rate of comets and large meteors entering the visible sky. Like you said, UFO sightings didn't become prevalent until people started flying around all the time. Coincidence? Nah.

at as quickly as answer? they do no longer cover something. those issues get insurance interior the media. The media is often finding for a sensational tale to fill broadcast time or newspaper pages. Even in Australia i've got heard of the recent Texas UFOs. yet another at as quickly as fact. whilst investigated, just about all unidentified flying merchandise sightings finally end up to have a precise nevertheless mundane rationalization related to the planet Venus, somewhat unusual atmospheric situations, plane, balloons, kites, birds and often outright fraud. Fraud is getting much less complicated and much less complicated with enhancing of video turning out to be available to anybody who truly desires to do it. that's something like ninety 9.9% of observations. Of something, the reason being probable because of widely used phenomena however the evidence is purely too obscure to determine. Even the honest unidentified flying merchandise fanatics will inform you that. those ingredient have been investigated somewhat thoroughly interior the Nineteen Sixties and the tip that there have been no extraterrestrial beings traveling exchange into reached. government has considered no reason to alter this is suggestions on the grounds that. the ingredient this is rather inconceivable given what all of us know of the Universe and the risk of existence on different planets, is that UFOs are piloted by skill of extraterrestrial beings. that's purely somewhat extra probable than the assumption they are controlled by skill of ghosts.

There is a scientifically known fact that high CO2 can cause panic attacks or anxiety; your correlation is not proven, at least yet. I have never experienced UFOs; but I do understand that we exist in an infinite universe and that whatever percentage you would like to apply, the odds are greater that we are not alone rather than anything else.

That is one possibility but can you just see anyone saying its true? We would then have to admit that UFOs exist and that we have no control over them I doubt very much that is even a idea. But hey run it by Gore I am sure he can find a way to make us believe its OK and tax us for those aliens that don't exist.

Those aliens are here to steal our CO2, since they know we need that to prevent the next ice age. They probably plan to take over once the earth is frozen and we're defenseless.

Interesting... so people are really hallucinating more at higher CO2 concentrations. That would explain the craze on Yahoo Anwers!
