Contact your hospital. I did that once when I had a tooth done by my dentist and they didn't completely remove the root before filling it. They will only repair it temporarily, but is better than nothing. It classes as accident and emergency.

Ring round the dentists in your area, say it is severe and maybe you can use another dentist private instead of your own for this instance. I go private, not much choice really, and if it costs you £30-60 surely it is worth that.

Failing that it has been reported that because of such a bad state of UK dentists, some people have resorted to pliers.

But not all pain is where you think it is, as the root is all inter-connected. The tooth with the pain may not be the one with the decay, so if you use pliers (I hope not) make sure you yank the right tooth. <-DO NOT TAKE SERIOUSLY!

apart from carrying on with the combiation of painkillers there is not a lot else you can do at the moment, remember to only take the painkillers as directed, it is easy to take too many when you are in a lot of pain. Now you are on antibiotics this should take a couple of days and you should start to feel some improvement in the pain, you can try swirling your mouth with warm salt water which may help a little to help draw the infection out but really you just have to wait for the antibioics to kick in, I can soo symathise I have had many absesses and it feels like the worst pain in the world.

If you swirl salt water around your mouth it'll help take away whatever infection is causing it you just have to keep going with the antibiotics and painkillers (although make sure you don't take those different types at the same time or you'll do yourself damage!). Unfortunately their is little you can do for toothache apart from that.

If you really can't wait another week phone your dentists surgery and explian how much pain your in and ask if they could move you forward or put you on a cancellation list.

They might not be able to do anything for you if they're busy but it's worth trying.

I had a similar experience with that type of pain. Did heavy duty meds like you have. Took sips of cold water every 5 - 10 minutes. It turned out that I had fractured tooth. A sharp edge was digging at the nerve. After about 12 hours the pain went away because the nerve died. My dentist did a root canal after that.

Sometimes you feel pain from one tooth in other teeth, like the pain resinates. I would go back to the dentist and tell him about this it is possible he did not fill the tooth properly causeing you pain in the tooth next to it. Take tylenol and try out the orajel it numb the area.

Be careful taking all those painkillers at once, you could give yourself a stomach ulcer or worse.

Try crushing one of your painkillers up and rubbing it directly onto your bad tooth.

I had bad toothache last month and luckily for me the dentist took it out straight away.

have u tried taking two nurofen + tablets they are prob the strongest over the counter meds u can get, u could try whiskey on cotton wool next to the tooth, i have an impacted wisdom tooth that gives me hell from time to time so i sympathize with u there's nothing worse than dental pain.

Get to the dentist. Until then gargle with a tiny drop of whiskey held on to the tooth.

I know how you feel i suffered nights on end till i out get my extraction, i kept dosing myself up with clove oil although it didn't work for long, one night i had never expienced some much pain.Although afterwards my friend recomended Anbesol as they do a gel or liquid.
