Is there ANY contraceptive pill that doesn't have side-effects?

I've tried Cilest and microgynon both with horrible side-effects. i have a tendency towards depression & tiredness anyway - I don't need any help with that!!

I'm so sick of going on these stupid pills and having horrendous side-effects. All the other contraceptive methods sound pretty awful as well.

There is no chemical birth control that cannot cause side effects. If you don't want to try another brand of pills, condoms and contraceptive foam, used correctly together, are as effective as oral contraceptives.

I hear you about the other kinds of birth control. The Patch may raise your risk of blood clots, since it releases a higher dose of estrogen. The shot (Depo-Provera) can cause bone density loss. Isn't being a woman fun?

I have no respect for the pill. If men had to take it, there wouldn't be one. Your body is regulating your hormones, which is totally normal. Often the pill is used to force periods to be regular. I've seen women get their lives messed up forever using hormone bc, as well as the coil and iud. Women have had difficulties all the way up to biggies, like loosing their uterus. The pill can be very dangerous. I get suicidal on it. When I was choosing a bc method, I researched them all. What I came up with was the diaphragm. It works without hormones so you don't end up with these huge Natzi hormones overthrowing and controlling your natural cycle. It's like a female condom, you can't feel or see it and neither can he. You put a little spermacide on the rim, which seals it and kills any trouble makers. If you follow directions as to how to use it and do so exactly, it's as effective as the pill, on the pregnancy part, perhaps better. The doctor will fit you to get the right size and to show you how to put it in and remove it. It's easier than to remember to take a pill everyday when you’re not gonna have sex everyday. You just have to remember it when you’re going to have sex. If you forget it, of course it doesn’t work at all. If periods are an issue regarding sex, it won't be anymore. The diaphragm holds the blood over night. It was my favorite bc method. However like the pill, it doesn't protect against std's, or the possibility of getting a disease that will kill you.

Have you tried the patch Ortho Evra???

I have been on the patch for like 5 or 6 years now. I love it, I was on Ortho TriCyclen and it made me INSANE, I was a complete basket case, i was almost manic. Happy one minute and then sobbing like a baby the next. My parents, who supported me in my quest for the right b/c, were the ones to tell me about the patch.

There isn't enough money in the world for me to go back to using the "pill".

Talk to you doctor, midwife, nurse practitioner or health care provider before stopping or changing your medication.

They can help you choose a method that best works for you and your situation.

The main reason I went on the patch was to regulate my periods, not just prevent pregnancy. Since you change your patch once a week it is much easier to remember than taking a pill at the same time everyday. (not taking it at the same time everyday can affect your moods too.)

    Good Luck in your quest!!

no drug made by the pharmacutical company is without sideaffects......don't trust them.....if you want a natural method that is even more effective than pills use the FAM method taught by toni weschler in her book "taking charge of your fertility"
