Yahoo Regulars Unite!!! What do yall think of this? Can I have your thoughts on this discussion please?!!!!?

Collect your thoughts for this one!! This is a handful.

Today, I had a long, deep conversation with an actual Lil Wayne Stan (Over a one hour interview) and it was quite interesting. It started by me talking about Kanye West winning a Grammy and I accidentaly said, "Kanye West is better than Lil Wayne."

Uh Oh.

We got into a debate and I said that I could name ten MC's better than Wayne. I started.

Ludacris..Andre 3000..Cassidy...Kanye West..Lupe Fiasco...Jay Z.

He stopped me and said that he refused to count the last one.

I was shocked. The man who handgiven me the love I have for this music genre was not counted. I went off, then realized that a Wayne Stan is one interesting person. He said Wayne was soo good cause he freestyled all his stuff and said that Jay Z takes time to write his stuff down.

Dont entertain that last statement.

Then he said Lil Wayne makes more music than all others. Since when did that equate skill? He asked has Jay Z made 77 songs because Wayne made that much in the year 2007. Since I knew Jay had TEN CD's, before answering I asked, "Have you heard a Jay Z cd before?" Thats when I found out he has never heard a Jay Z, Biggie, Tupac, Nas, ever heard the name "Reasonable Doubt" and what got me the most was he has never even heard a Kanye West cd!! So that has me like, what are you listening to?!! He said the best line he heard kanye say was, "Yall Pop The Trunk, I Pop The Hood, Ferrari." He is going by the way lines are said and not the meaning. He goes off punches and not substance. Delivery and not classic hits. His idea of a hot line was and

I quote "You can say dont rhyme and its gone rhyme." That doesnt rhyme!!! "Im like Ford, Ill explore her." Nothing deep like, "this is not for commercial usage

please dont catagorize this is music.

Please dont compare me to other rappers.

Compare me to trappers im more Frank Lucas than Ludacris

and Luda's my dude i aint trying to diss

like Frank Lucas is cool but i aint trying to snitch

imma follow the rules no matter how much time imma get

imma live and die with the decisions that imma pick."

That takes too much thinking.

Lil Wayne is not the best artist in his eyes though. The best artist is Ludacris. Not the best artist now but the best artist of all time. Second is Lil Wayne and the third is Young Jeezy. I then said what about Tupac and Biggie. He said that they were not even hot until they died. He said before Pac died, the only song that was getting played was Hail Mary. This is coming from someone who was four when the man was killed.

This by far is my most favorite post ever for answers, as a question or answer. I would really like for all the Regulars to give your imput on this, if you read it all that is lol. I wanna know what do you think about someone talking about something without hearing the whole (or any) of the story. When was quantity more respectable than skill? Ant, Dilla, Bonniethon, HNIC, MZCarter, Jane, Lazurus, Prodiguenus, James T, Samantha, Fred, Escobar, Bradley, the black dude on the leaders board with 190 answers but aint never on, HipHopsLoveChild, Biscuits and Crips, Tatiana, Qwerty, YMP and everybody who I could not mention because I soon got carpal tunnel syndrome. What do you think?

What do you think?

Update:

To First Answerer:

Update 2:

first off lets not trash weezy because of his fans, he is IMO a decent rapper...

but what ya got here is an example of how powerful this thing they call rap is, you got people blindly putting their name on the line to defend the only rapper they've ever heard. Rap and Hip-Hop does this to people man, one cool kid says wayne is the ish and everyone and their mama wanna get Da Drought 3... Its like the sports fans who know every stat in the world about Tom Brady (or any sports star) and would fight to the death about how he's the best quarterback ever but never even seen Montana throw a pass, or even a stat sheet for that matter; people will makes these claims about their favorite rapper without ever comparing them to anyone. I don't know if its just laziness or what but it seems to happen in RHH a lot more than in any other part of my life. People like this kid you had to school don't care about the music, they only care about associating with the culture and image of commercial hip-hop

first of all....lmao @ jay-z writes all his stuff down

second of all *faints* @ biggie and pac weren't good until they were dead....WOW

Funny that u mention te whole quality vs. quantity thing....I just answered a Weezy question yesterday and I presented the same arguement in regards to the fact that just becuz u drop 77 songs in a year doesn't make u the best rapper of all time...especially Weezy cuz IMO his guest verses are really sloppy...almost like he feels that he doent have to put forth any effort into it becuz he is only the guest....i dont about him...but if it was me i would try to outshine everyone else on the track. Well this stan u spoke with was only 4 when Pac died so obviously it is too much of a task to go back and research any of the albums from back then. To the younger generation artists like Pac, Big, even Jay are considered "old school" lol...sad as it may sound....so just like some of us may not go back to listen to what our parents listen to...kids now a days are doing the same thing...they are too focused about the music that is getting played now. When i was 12 i only cared about Nas and Snoop....u couldn't get me to listen to EPMD, or Public Enemy cuz i was young and stupid...as i got older is when i actually took the time to listen to hip hop albums of the past so i could gain a better appreciation for hip hop music as a whole. So I would agree that u should never make an assumption on that of which u know nothing about. A lot of ppl are so stuck on one artist that they refuse to broaden their horizons...i mean i love jay-z...he's my favorite rapper....but he's not the only person i listen to, and i can admit when he makes a wack song (izzo) or a wack album (blueprint 2, Volume 3). Quanitiy is by no means more respectable than skill....it's just that most ppl today are lazy and if they have to sit down and actually think about what is being said in a rhyme it turns them off (cuz god forbid they have to use their brain). Weezy's stuff is pretty simple to digest, so that's why i think a lot of ppl like him....he's commercial he makes club hits...thats what ppl (some, not me at all) wanna hear. But yeah u made a valid point Eason....how could he knock u for liking Kanye, when he has never even attempted to take the Weezy cd out of the cd player!! lol

Source(s): lmao @ Eason...u know i luv ya...but like i said in the answer...if i'm a guest on the track...i'ma try to outshine everyone!! lol
  • I feel you Eason, it's so frustrating, but I doubt there's much you can do to change this guy's mind. I think with a lot of people, it's not so much that these crazy things they say are part of an informed opinion - it's more about the fact that they've rashly decided to follow some trend and their pride won't allow them to admit they might be wrong. You see it with all sorts of people, not just within hip hop.

I've seen it with so many people on here - you get hip hop bashers who you try to be patient with, give them links etc, and they just totally ignore you and post the same ignorant crap the next day.

Or when you try to give people some rappers you think have more quality than the ones they're listening to - they completely ignore you.

I think it's just stubborn headed human nature.

    And of course Quality >>>>>>>>>>Quantity.

Wow. And I thought 50 stans were bad. I mean the kid at least recognized people like Beanie Sigel. His top 5 (of all time was)

    1. 50 Cent

    2. Young Buck

    3. Lil' Wayne

    4. 2Pac

    5. Beanie Sigel

Anyway the Lil' Wayne stans I know like Jay-Z (2003-Present), Nas (2003-Present), The Game, and anyone who's rapped form 2003 to present.

I find that hilarious...personally, I would have tried having some fun with the kid to see how pissed off I could get him by saying some ish that I know he would have found ridiculous...I mean, there's no point in arguing with some of these kids, so might as well just mess around with them, give them a taste of their own ignorance and stannery

Quantity will never amount to talent...enough said. If that was true, we might as well be anointing Too Short and LL Cool J as the GOATS (no disprespect though, they both have their own great albums)

They're young and dumb Eason...you can't get lil' hard headed kids to recognize what real hip hop is....I grew up with Run-DMC, Big Daddy Kane, BDP, Rakim, NWA, X-Clan, Public Enemy and so on...(I know I'm telling my age...LOL) but ol' skool hip hop is the best thing since fried bologna & cheese sandwiches to me. Don't get me wrong...I like Jay-Z, Nas etc...but I was already grown & out of high school when they came out so it just doesn't make me feel like ol' skool hip hop does. I think it's whateva kind of music you grow up with that is the best to that person....it's the music that makes them reminisce about "their own" back n da day. And that's not to say that young people can't appreciate ol' skool hip hop... it just doesn't affect them the same way it does those that actually grew up in that time. I also agree with Mz Carter...I remember my mom hating the hip hop I listened to and I didn't really listen to her Mowtown either. She would tell me my hip hop wasn't real music & I would tell her that her Motown was real boring. But when I got older I learned to appreciate my mom's music & some of the best music was made in that era...but I can never sit and listen to a Temptation song and think back to who I was going with or what me and my friends were doing at that time or what the latest trends were...because I wasn't even thought of at that time. And as for dude not listening to the music before he starts to diss it....as the old saying goes "Don't knock it till you try it"

yeah ludacris is a good rapper but not the best of all time. these young people think they know so much when they really know so little. for example i posted a question a few days a go asking for the best Dj Quick songs, and the dude had never even heard of Dj Quick.

wow thats all i can say is wow man i have heard arguments jus tlike this before and acutally this is quite believable for me believe it or not eason this is the typical wayne stan attitude these guys know nothing further than this guy but like ive said over and over again having 54685468585978590 songs doesnt make u the best if all of them suck with no lyricism and not one classic albums but what at least 4 under the belt makes u a mediocre artist u cant be the best if u dont have at least one classic album this is an outrage a real spit in the face to hip hop but this is how the stans operate dog
