My poem for V-Day?

To: The Sun That Brightens My Day

I will always admit,

I was a shy little boy.

I could never say

These six, little words:

“Will you go out with me?”

I’d never ask a girl

“Want to dance with me?”

The first time I met you,

I was a meek, little mouse.

But I thought you looked beautiful.

I was too afraid to speak.

But I thought to myself,

“Why not be friendly?”

I spoke with a girl

That I liked, for the first time.

Day after day, I was thinking,

“Why can’t I be brave for once?”

I couldn’t be more ashamed.

Slowly, I felt that I was

Punishing myself.

Until it came to the day.

I finally found the courage.

It was a spur of the moment.

And so, I decided to act.

But courage was not to last.

I fell back down from the high.

I said goodbye to the halcyon days.

All my life, I’ve closed myself

To the world, quietly sitting.

And now, I decided to open up.

I’ve decided not to ask you out.

You probably don’t think of us,

As anything more than friends.

And again, goodbye to the halcyon days.

This time, for good.

I’m admitting now, but not in person,

That I’ve got a crush on you.

With that burden off my back,

I have just this to say:

Happy Valentine’s Day.
