What significant difference is there in Emo music?

Emo is short for emotional. This label doesn't make sense since almost any good music with any depth has emotion invested in. Nirvana for example-no one calls them emo.

Now the emo genre is made up of girly sounding pretty boys like Panic at the Disco and Taking Back Sunday.

it is kind of like pop. Pop is short for popular music which means Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are pop. but in our modern world pop is referred to like Britney Spears and Michael Jackson.

I've been asking my self this question for years and I think I've come to a sensible answer....they sing about EMOtional things, ya know like love and all that junk.

Really happy sounding music, with lyrics that actually are about really dark stuff, like suicide or nihlism.

I wish my lawn were Emo, that way it would cut itself.

It's pretty hardcore and they have lots of throat. Plus it's quite depressing.
