Why didnt Manu Ginobili get named to the All-Star Game?

Im a huge Spurs fan, and Im not bias'ed believe it or not, but after watching tonights performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers, with Ginobili scoring 46 points, 5rebs., and 8 assists, and leading candidate for 6th man of the year, why didn't he get named as a resreve to the All-Star game? And David West did?

Manu is the only player EVER to win an NBA championship (well, 3 actually), a Euroleague and the Olympic Gold Medal. He is the most complete all-around player in the NBA, he can do anything from scoring (46 points today against the Cavs), taking rebounds (15 rebounds yesterday against Boston), giving assists (10 against the Knicks 3 days ago) etc etc. I can't think of a player who can do everything so well like he does. He's a thousand times better than Brandon Roy and I don't know who else who were picked for the All Star game and are nowhere as good as Ginobili. You can make a case for Baron Davis deserving to go to the All Star game (he does) but you can't compare Deron Williams to Ginobili because Ginobili is a much better player. On top of that, Manu is the ultimate competitor, he's a winner and a tough nut to crack. He never backs off, he's just fearless. That's why everything single team he's ever been in has won everything. That's not a coincidence, that's thanks to him because he's the heart and soul of every single team he's played on.

And still you have to listen all that crap from people who say that he's not a great player, that San Antonio is only about Duncan and no one else, that Manu is just a flopper and a bluff and so on. All these retards who say that and pretend to know about basketball should definitely stick to something more up their alley like playing dolls or watching waterpolo because they know nothing about basketball. And no, Manu DOES NO LONGER START ON THE BENCH! Wake up people! He hasn't started on the bench for over a month now and his numbers since then are around 27 points and 8 rebounds a game in the last month.

Manu is the real thing and one of the top 5 players in the NBA today. No doubt about it. And of course he deserved to be an All-Star again this year (like he was in 2005), the same way he deserved to be named MVP for the 2005 finals, but he has a major flaw: he's not from the USA and that destroys all his chances because american voters and coaches are so self-centered that they just can't take the fact that a foreigner can come to the NBA (a white boy from south america on top of it!) and show them how to play ball. That's why he's not picked for the All Star game and David West or Brandon ROy are. The rest are just excuses because Manu's numbers are as good as Duncan's. If Tim goes to the All Star every year then why is Ginobili always forgotten? Let's be honest, the All Star is nonsense, it's only about marketing and money. It's not only about talent. That's why only americans are picked and occasionally a chinese guy like Yao Ming (because chinese fans flood the net voting for him) and a couple of foreigners like Nash (who's almost an american for most people) and Nowitski because he plays in a position where there is less competition than where Manu is playing and he's the exception americans need to pretend that they're open minded and do not discriminate foreigners in the NBA.

Manu will just have to keep on being the most underrated player in the NBA. But All Star games come and go and people forget all about them as soon as they're over. Whereas titles, like all those that Manu has won in his career, they stay forever and speak for themselves. At the end of the day, people will remember Ginobili for all the titles he's won and no one will remember Brandon Roy or David West or whoever else was named player of the month.

Lebron had 9 assists stop add numbers to Lebron's stats u moron .. he had great game w/o that 1 assists

And Manu is best bench in NBA period ...scoring almost 20 points 5 rebounds and 4.5 assists as a bench is hard

Simple. The West is LOADED with guards. David West's natural position is Power Forward. One can argue that guards Baron Davis and Deron Williams are having even better seasons than Ginobli. Who knows, perhpas if Ginobli had this kind of a game prior to the starters and subs being unveiled he would have made the team. Also, Tony Parker's injury has opened up a starting role for Ginobli on the Spurs. If Ginobli was always a starter then he would probably have even better numbers, but he hasn't been a starter for most of the season.

at the time the all-star reserves were chosen the spurs were slumping and the hornets were the best in the west. the coaches i assume take that into consideration and the all-star game is in new orleans too. baron davis was snubbed too the west has way too many great guards. no worries theres always the all-nba team

he should have been. its that simple. Ginobili isnt really a bench player, he just comes off the bench to get some good players rotating in as their other stars wear down

Why didnt Baron Davis get named to the All Star game??? Too many good guards are loaded in the West....

  • Because there are too many guards in the west I agree he deserve to make the team but there are too many guards in the west.

Because one good game does not an All-Star make. Ginobli is just too inconsistent to make the All-Star game and although he can change the game on any given night, he very rarely does.
