They definitely do help with certain skills, like problem solving, team work, working towards goals and not giving up, but that is more of a bonus, they are mostly for fun.

    2. I disagree. Video games are educational also. I've learned quite a few things in video games that I've learned to apply to real life. Hitman, for instance, does really show you ways to actually kill people. Even though that's probably not something you should be learning, it is useful in self-defense.

On the lighter side of games, Runescape teaches you a few basic things. Pretty much you learn a little bit about metals and what make them up. (Ok so they're general knowledge, but hey the age group for RS is now about 8, so it's not bad if they're learning SOMETHING, right?)

Plus, haven't you ever played those educational games such as Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? I mean, the games are pretty silly, but you do learn a lot of history, and well quite frankly, I'd rather learn about history by answering trivia questions and destroying robots (yes that is what the game is about) then just simply memorizing facts.

I think that games aren't just for recreation so I say 2.

Even games like God of War you can adapt words ( that isn't bad language) and learn of things that are taught in school such as ancient mythology. And now Nintendo is putting out a wide array of games like big brain academy and my work coach. Math games. even games that help with reflex's. The puzzles in Legend Of Zelda and final Fantasy aren't always easy and it takes a quick and intellectual mind to solve them. Games are just as beneficial as they are mind numbing.

    5.

video games teach lots of thing to people,

did you know that what happens in counter strike is very similar to the tactics used in the real world? Assuming that you're playing on a serious server, not one of those fun maps, customs, warcraft or superhero servers.

In sports games, you can really learn the strategy of the game and maybe improve your game, and in war games you can learn about battles.

But honestly, I wouldnt rely on them for education, there are better ways

Not only can many games be educational, but playing games can also be a profession.
