Yes, technically. However, as a member of the democratic party this is EXTREMELY unlikely. Obama was elected as a democrat and it would be unprecedented and imprudent for him to run as an independent. It would also have the effect of splitting the democratic party. That is, some democrats would still vote for Hillary and other would vote for him. Whereas, all the republicans would be united behind one candidate. This would result in a republican victory. Therefore, as a loyal member of the democratic party, Obama would NOT run as an independent, even though he could. The good news is Obama is doing very good right now and he's on track to get the nomination!

Obama's working for the Nuclear Power Industry--hope you like glowing in the dark.
Try this from CNN:
Truth--Obama's top campaign contributor besides Soros is some obscure Illinois Nuclear Power Plant Facility. Here's why--
CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton on Thursday sharpened her attacks on Democratic rival Sen. Barack Obama as she faces what even her supporters admit are must-win situations in Texas and Ohio in the weeks ahead.
At a campaign stop at a General Motors Corp. plant in Youngstown, Ohio, the senator from New York accused Obama of caving in to special interests.
"My opponent says that he'll take on the special interests," she said. "Well, he told people he stood up to the nuclear industry and passed a bill against them. But he actually let the nuclear industry water down his bill -- the bill never actually passed."
Clinton was referring to a 2006 bill that Obama drafted after an Illinois nuclear power plant was found to have released radiation into surrounding groundwater.
Obama's original bill would have required power plants to notify the public and government officials when any radiation was released, but subsequent versions had less stringent reporting requirements, The New York Times reported. The bill was never voted on by the full Senate.
Clinton also accused Obama of supporting "billions of dollars of breaks for the oil industry" by voting for an energy bill she opposed and said he did not support the workers of a Maytag Corp. plant that closed in his home state of Illinois.

He never would do that. If he loses, he will help out with Hillary's campaign to help the Democrats take back the White House.

He can, but would he? At best, he would only get 30% of the total vote, he would basically cripple the Democratic party, ensuring a united Republican party victory.

I doubt that Mr Obama will lose from the democratic side. This is because Mr.Obama has the most delegates.
Estimated total delegates
Clinton -1,211 (score)
Obama -1,253 (score)
If he wins the democratic side that means he might even win the election against republican

Too late to do that. If he can't win in his own party, he won't win in a different party.

he'll probably just come back for election after more experience in congress( I would say 8 years is good)
