Stress effects every system in the human body! It raises your blood pressure, gives you headaches, increases your pulse, make you breathe faster, upsets your stomach, increases or decreases your appetite, causes weight gain or loss, diarrhea, heavy or absent periods (for women), mental confusion, poor memory, decreased sleep, irritability, anger, I could go on and on, but talking about it is stressing me out!!!! kjl

Yep...very bad. My dad got type 1 diabetes, largely due to the huge amount of stress because of work, finances, family problems. He was healthy but the stress and lack of sleep (getting like 1-3 hours a day most days of the week) weakened his whole body to the point he nearly died in hospital. This was over many years though, about 10.

Stress is extremely powerful on a person. Especially after long periods of time. Some of the things that can result are:
*Headaches
*Cognitive problems
*Inability to make decisions
*Memory problems
*Skin problems
*Stomach problems (nausea, diarrhea, it can aggravate IBS symptoms)
*Weight loss or gain
*Dizziness
*Depression
*Moodiness
*Loss of sex drive
*Frequent colds (stress weakens your immune system making it harder for your body to fight off illnesses and diseases)
*Muscle tension
*Increased heart rate
*Shortness of breath
*Loss of appetite or eating more
Chronic stress or severe stress can actually sometimes make your hair fall out. It can also lead to terminal illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, autoimmune diseases (where the body attacks itself), ulcers, heartburn, etc...

There's good stress, like exercise, and tough stress, like being the victim of an injustice.

Stress greatly weakens your immune system and leaves you defenseless against diseases.
