Just Wondering. Anyone else feel the same?
"I used to Know Me"
I sit and wonder who that is looking at me from the bottom of the glass.
If it's someone approaching to bum a smoke, I'll turn back around, "I pass"
"Oh wait it's me down there reflecting", now looking up from the floor,
"I guess I coulda recognized you, I've been here often before."
There's not much more so harsh on the throat, than inhaled, Cigarette smoke
But I know how to fix it, I'll just down this Bourbon and choke.
I used to come here innocently, just some time to have some fun,
but lately I go unrecognized, and I sure don't know anyone.
There's two juke boxes in the place, and I have no clue as to why.
On one I can hear "Free Bird", competing with Hendrix, kissing the sky.
I guess I'll have to leave soon, I'm down to my last, loose change
and the bartender's tapping his fingers, as my pocket lint I rearrange.
"I'll be going now" I say, and get a vague wave off to send me,
as the door slammed hard behind my exit, I swear I heard "Yippee"
I'm so glad I lost the keys, to my now very lost car,
I'll walk, or stumble home to sleep, and hope it aint very far.
Um, TY so far, smile.
I never passed the BAR exam, and probably would stutter in a Poetry slam; but I do know this, whatever I was,
is now like so much like clothes dryer fuzz. I didn't say I'm clean and sober, but some stuff I know, ya just gotta get over.
Mr Biscuits. TY, I'd be embarrased to say it brought a tear to my eye. I have another on the way, related in part, and may I say; It's not strictly ME I'm relating but more it may be "energies" (or lack of) I'm relating.
Ummm,again, I'm pretty well, involved, though it hasn't completely evolved. I obviously did ask, wondering, and so often go through life blundering, but KINDRED is a rather strong word, and I've no real definition, though I've been on the Planet long enough to know side effects and afflictions.

I'd rather have bourbon and coke,
And choke on some cigarette smoke.
Then laugh at the gent on the stool...
Who appears to be playing the fool.
I've not been there, no.
Not much distance to go,
Since my years do appear on my face.
So, now...I shall bow out with grace!

I saw him on that night, slouched over in the chair
Such lonely and lost soul, looking in his glass with despair
I saw he dropped his car keys, I picked them up and said,
"I'll hold on to these, or else he may wind up dead"
People cheered and scoffed as he exited the bar
I followed him out as he looked for his car
It wasn't long before he gave up and just walked
In the silence I heard mumbles, and with himself he talked
He made it home safely and walked in as I watched
Saved another life, I'll leave his keys in the mailbox

Everyone; we have a glass
Filled with all our troubles.
No matter what we fill it with;
When swollowed; brings us double.
The question one should ask oneself:
What is my reason to climb my glass?
When it is found
while looking down
One can decide
to fill inside
With better things to swollow.
