Does anyone have this Tesco brand sewing machine, called the Tesco Sew 1? It is being sold in Europe for approx. $150 US dollars.
It is the cheapest machine I have seen since I've come to Europe (we live in Poland and come from the States); most here go for $450 or more US dollars.
It has a variety of straight, zig zag and stretch stitches, appears to be mostly made of metal and has the features of a much more expensive machine. It comes in the Tesco brand black, gray and purple box they use here and has a purple label or prinitng on the machine itself.
I am considering it, seeing that my Tesco and the local Carrefour and Lidl either have cheap looking, poorly made machines, or much more expensive ones that have fewer features than the Sew 1. The local Media Markt store here has a Pfaff Hobby 1142 for $650 US, which costs $325 in the States and 200 GBP in the UK, so choice here appears to be very limited.
Have U used the Sew 1? Is it a decent machine? Would U recommend it?

I haven't come across it, but it sounds like a good price if you're just wanting to sew occasionally, and not doing heavy stuff. Just a thought - are you driving distance from the German border? It's worth considering researching what's available in towns near the border.
