my mum hates harry potter?
well basically my mum hates harry potter,
she says its cos her religion// she is a protestant by the way.
but i think she is over reacting, like for example she would through the books on the floor and tell my little brother how he shouldn't watch it.
now me, myself im actually a huge fan,
and im fed up with not being aloud to watch the movies and
read the books,
and when i was little i used to feel really left out cos i was one of the only kids who couldn't watch it.
what should i do?

Did she ever read you fairy tales? Hansel and Gretal has a witch in it.
Did you ever read Alice in Wonderland? This book condones drug use.
Did you ever watch Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs or Sleeping beauty? Oops there are witches in there also.
If you answered YES to any of these, tell your mother she is a hypocrite. This comes from a mother, teacher, and a CHRISTIAN. "Harry Potter" books are not evil. They actually deal with good verses evil and good prevails. McGonagol even states, "may God help us all" in one of the books. Cheers and good luck
PS: I bet you can think of a bunch more examples. Just try.

Hey! I feel so sorry for you!
I would try talking to your mum about how you feel. tell her that you really enjoy reading the books and how they promote good morals and love. I mean how many times does harry risk his life to save those he cares about?? Dumbledore tells harry that everyone has to choose between "what is right, and what is easy" The characters are good role models!
Is it the magic/withcraft shes against? If that is what is bothering her, reassure her that you know its not true?
If she still doesnt understand after this, well i guess you will have to accept the fact that everyone has different opinions! In the meantime, i would just borrow the books out from the library and read while shes not looking! After all, all reading is educational! Good luck :)

I've read all the 7 books of Harry Potter and I am telling you it's an amazing story. It has nothing to do with any religion or beliefs. I've never been interested in any kind of book/s just this one. Tell your mom that the story gives a moral lessons about friendship, being brave and giving priorities in your life. I hope you can have the chance to read all the books.

well does ur mum hate lord of the rings? chronicles of narnia? all of these have deeply spiritual backgrounds that are actually very similar to christian belief (sry this is according to my own mum) just read up on the authors
so just becuase it involves magic and stuff makes it evil? she should at least read the story to even know anything about it....it has hundreds of incredible lessons to be learned and is just an all around moral tale
plus i watched a documentary about how evil HP was once...and it all sounded like a load of crap! it was ridiculously stupid...they just blabbered on about something and tried to stetch out everything for an hour...in the end they didnt even make a complete point to the "horrors of harry potter and jk rowling"

I think that u should get to choose what religion u follow
if u want to read the books.....good for u....and your mom should let u have that right cos its your life and your not gonna be under her control forever.
thats why I and so many others are working to make this world a happier and fairer place with rights for children
(until then...there isnt much u can do)
good luck

Sorry to tell you but your mum really don't know how to appreciate good things.
I'm also a great fan of HP and my parents don't have any problem with that. They even offered me the whole book series and i also watched all the films.
I'm really sorry for you, good luck dear.
