Lowes has a product called Watco's Rejuvenating Oil. Around $8 a can and it does a beautiful job adding new life to just about any surface, not to mention is is very durable

There are some waxes and polishes on the market that should give your floor more shine depending on the type of floor you have. You should check with a flooring dealer and they can give you advice on the product that works best for your floor.

If you have a solid wood flooring (oak, hickory, maple, or fir) and not a laminate product, you could give it a couple fresh coats of gloss varnish to give it more shine. All you would have to do is scuff the surface some just like you would a piece of furniture and then apply the varnish as directed on the can (I usually use a floor buffer with a very fine sanding disk and then Min Wax Polyurethane).

I hope that this helps some

if it's a relatively new floor or a newly refinished floor then it's most likey dulled by soap, Not rinsed well. Also ,all those soaps they sell for wood floors can also be the cause.

I use a small amount (not a lot) of Carpet Cleaning Soap (the stuff used to shampoo carpets) in lukewarm water,,and them rinse with clear cold water.

If the floor has an old finish, then maybe a good coat of paste wax will put a nice shine on it. If you go that route then only mop it with cold clear water--never soapy water--it will only dull it.

there has been an advertisement on TV for a product that is supposed to refurbish hardwood floors.

The best thing would be to sand it lightly and re apply the finish! Polyurethane, a couple of coats sanding lightly between will make the gloss come back and protect the wood.

I need to get into town and do my daughter's floors!

You probably just have a build up of cleaning products. Start using Murpy's Soap. It's the best hard wood cleaner and won't leave a residue. You could also try a product with orange or lemon. Citrus cleaners are wonderful for removing build up.

Try waxing or polishing it. That should make it look better.
