Switching from DSL to Cable Modem... Wireless router?
I am switching from DSL to Cable Modem and currently have a Wireless router. I am buying my own Cable Modem for the Cable folks to install.
My current Wireless router is a Netgear Rangemax and on the back only has 4 LAN line outlets. Will I be able to use this with my new cable modem, or should I purchase a Wireless Cable Modem? If so, what's a good brand and model to buy?
Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can use your current wireless router with your new modem.
When you get the new modem - Connect from the Ethernet port on the modem to the WAN port on the wireless router.
Look at my web page for details and pictures:

If it only has 4 lan ports without the necessary single WAN port (for a total of 5 Ethernet ports) than you are out of luck. Buy a new router.
DSL modem + router combos are very common and Netgear has been manufacturing them for a while. However, I don't know if anyone if making a router + cable modem device.

Your Old RTR wud work just great!!
Just Turn the Power on your Old RTR
Reset it for 25 Secs (Powered ON)
Make the Connection
Cable Modem--> Internet Port on RTR
Comps---> LAN Ports
Turn OFF RTR, MODEM, COMPS
Turn ON Modem 1st WAIT, Then RTR, Then Comps
U shud be Online on all WIRED Comps
Just do the Wireless Settings for your RTR.
The Above steps will work best with Comcast, Charter & Cox Internet Service Providers.

Your old router will work great, but it wont be plug and play.
Since your moving from a dsl (PPPOE) connection to Cable (Most Likely a Dynamic IP connection) you will need to setup the routers WAN section for your new ISP.
