Does anyone have any good tips for taking pictures of yourself on a camera cell phone?
You have to aim the camera at yourself, so you can't see if you are getting the best pose, and you can't focus the camera correctly to take a sharp picture. This has been a real challenge for me. All my other pix are really nice, because I can see what i'm doing.
Can someone help?

Normally the best camera angle it slightly from abouve you looking down on you and with you looking up at the camera lens. This normally gives a nice picture everytime. Try not to move the phone while the picture is being taken by it. Most cameras will have an auto focus on them so just hold it very still and dont move yourself either or just try the mirror idea. LOL

Here's a few ideas. If you point the camera at the mirror and you have an autofocus camera it will focus on the glass of the mirror, let's say it is 4 feet in front of you. It will be out of focus at 8 feet which is where it needs to be focused if you are using the mirror 4 feet in front so your face will be blurry. You can adjust the focus. A better way might be to set your camera on a pillow or on a tripod and step in front of it and take a timed shot. For glasses, you can avoid looking straight at the camera and turn your head enough so the light bouncing of the glasses lens doesn't reflect straight back to the camera. Often, beauty shots are taken with soft focus so things like zits or stray hairs or wrinkles or aren't visible. Sometimes cameras had nylon stockings stretched over the lens or vaseline smeared on a filter on the lens to soften the focus. Soft focus lenses that basically blur things a little are also used for portraits sometimes. Flash use for portraits is an art and sometimes several flash units are needed and reflectors to shine light in dark areas like under your chin. Keep reading about portrait photography and things like red eye and bounce flash and your pictures will improve a lot.

Mirrors might not be such a good choice. Mirrors can turn up really dirty on photos even if you can't see it normally, and can ruin your photo. But your phone might have a little mirror next to the camera. My Nokia 6280 does. Right next to the camera is the flash and a tiny reflective surface you can use as a mirror. Helps me :]

A common cellphone picture:
Go in front of a mirror and snap a picture while looking at the phone. Use flash if possible for maximum failure of the picture.
Or just stand in front of a mirror and snap a photo :P

You could try standing in front of a mirror so you can see the other side of the phone in the mirror.
