If you had to do 1 year in a minimum security prison OR 30 days in utter darkness with no clock..which choice?
One year in a white collar minimum security facility, the kind of federal camp where disgraced former congressmen go...OR, they put you in the Hole for 30 days...no light, no communication, no idea how long you're in there. The only break to the monotony is meals. A panel opens and you feel your way to it so you can eat.
Your jailers also dink with your sense of time by feeding you 4 breakfasts in a row, etc so you have no idea which end is up...and feeding times are scattered as well.
A year of easy time, or 30 days in the Hole?

Yep. Even if my years in prison were completely unproductive, a billion dollars would mean that I would never have to spend any time just trying to make money for the rest of my life (assuming I wasn't outrageously stupid with the money). Ultimately, I would end up getting those 9 years back in time NOT spent doing something I'd rather not to pay the bills - and plus, given that a billion dollars is several times what the average person spends in a lifetime, it would mean not only financial security for myself, but for everyone else I care about.

A year in prison. I've always been curious about how the men and women in prison cope with being locked up (yes, I know they are there for a reason, but losing your freedom is still painful), so I'd take it as a learning experience.
I could not do without light or conversation. I would go insane.

A year of easy time.
30 days in the Hole might drive me crazy, and a year of easy time would be bad but at least I'd keep my sanity.

I think that I would take the year, that time in the hole can really seriously warp your mind for the rest of your life
