you can still get pregnant while breast feeding. the IUD is great. I have the 5year one and I love it. there is a 10year one I know you can get while breastfeeding. the 5year one releases a little bit of a hormone and the 10year one doesn't. the good thing about these is if you want another kid in 2 years you can have it taken out and will most likely be able to get pregnant the following month.

You can use one as long as it doesn't have estrogen in it. I used the Depo shot and it was really easy! One shot every 12 weeks. Another option for breastfeeders is the mini pill, but it must be taken every day at the exact same time. There's a risk of pregnancy if you are off even by an hour! I'm way too busy and scattered for that!

My doctor recommended the Mirena over the Copper IUD. He stated that the Copper has many more side effects and is not as advanced. I am going to get the MIrena when i can come up with the money...its about 1200 dollars where i live!

Not sure if you can use it while breastfeeding, but I have Mirena and I love it. It's considered an IUC and takes all of 3 minutes to get "installed".

If your breastfeeding and want to have a birth control thats fine. But breastfeeding is also a form of birthcontrol as long as you follow three steps.
1. Breast must have to be empty evry two hours, or you gotta feed your baby every two hours.Never mix feed with formula.
2. Watch out your vaginal excretion if its mucusy and elastic to touch try not to have sex.
3. and lastly condom is the best contraceptive I can recommend. Cause it wont affect you and your baby chemically.
