ALL GOOD ANSWERS - THE CORRECT FORMAT OF A DVD IS THGE VOB FILE CONTROLLED BY THE IFO FILE BOTH CONTAINED IN A FOLDER CALLED VIDEO_TS

A LITTLE KNOWN FACT HOWEVER, MOST DVD PLAYERS CAN PLAY MPEG FILES QUITE EASILY BUT WITHOUT THE CHAPTER SKIPPING ETC AVAILABLE IN FULL DVD MODE

JUST TRY BURNING AN MPG FILE ONTO A CDR AND SEE HOW THAT GOES FIRST

Source(s): UNLESS YOU HAVE A DVD PLAYERWITH DIVX CAPABILITY, AVI FILES WILL NOT WORK IN YOUR DVD PLAYER

Use http://www.vsoconvertxtodvd.com/ it does what it says on the tin. It converts many formats to dvd for playing on your home dvd player. I`ve never had a problem with it

ISO is the most common and should not cause any problem although with the appropriate burner you can use vob files too

I use .avi, and it works fine. If your talking about PAL or NTSC then NTSC.
