I need help: Cartilage Piercing?

Last night, I pierced my cartilage by myself. And it made the top of my ear, and behind it, kind of numb. I dont know what to do, and I am really scared. Should I take it out or leave it in. Cause I hear that it can trap infection if i take it outt.. ARGG :(

You could have hit a small nerve, which shouldn't be a lasting problem - sensation should come back soon. It could be simply the pain-numbness that you get with ear piercing - have you pierced anything else before? And what did you use to pierce/sterilise it?

If you are really worried, do take it out. Infection is more likely to be trapped by keeping an earring in, but as long as you keep it clean this shouldn't be an issue either way anyway. Get some special sterilising solution or some surgical spirit from the drug store as soon as you can, and cleanse it twice a day, whether you take it out or not. In the meatime you can use hand-hot salty water. If it's still numb in 48hours time, see a nurse just in case.

    Don't worry, it's probably fine.

Yes, taking it out can trap infection in. If you leave it in until it heals, the infection can drain. Use seasalt solution to clean it and don't touch it. The numbness will probably go away, but call a real piercer just in case and ask. It's probably just because of the trauma of piercing it. Don't worry so much. It's fine. Don't take it out. Don't move it a lot.

I got a cartilage piercing almost 15 years ago and to this day it has never grown in, but it will still sometimes get infected. I haven't worn anything in it for 5 years almost. I would take it out and treat it daily with an antiseptic. This isn't a piercing you want to mess with. It really is painful once infected. Good luck.

First of all you should never pierce yourself... It might just be a reaction to the piercing. Hopefully you didnt hit a nerve. Taking it out is only bad if there is an infection. If there is an infection taking it out can trap the infection in your skin causing an abscess... I would go to a professional piercer at a tattoo shop and ask them what they think.

u should keep it in and make sure its always clean . its numb because its a hole thats not supposed to be there . it needs time to heal . i have nine piercings and i did 3 myself , also i have done other peoples too . you will be fine .

    Keep it in, clean it.

Go to a piercing place and ask them if it's okay.
