ATI 9600 xt will not be recognized by computer???

Installed 9600xt in 8x agp slot on asrock p4i45gv motherboard. Running win xp pro. No change in system or windows does not ask for orrecognize new equip. When installing latest catalyst drivers it says no suitable equipment found! Fan on card is running. HelP!!!

Update:

have rechecked and reseated card several times.

    Try and reseat the video card. Make sure all of the contacts are clean. If they are dirty, use a pencil eraser to clean it or a gentle cloth.

    If that doesn't work, try a different video card. It is possible that the card is bad or was damaged by static electricity at some point. The fan can run on a bad card.

    I've had the same problem before with agp and pci cards (not PCI-Express XD).

    Most likely it's just not set in right. It seems/feels good put it's not in correctly. Just pull the card again and put it back in.

    XP "should" throw a fit and say that there is new hardware when you restart.

    Your on-board graphics should be disabled too.
