Legend of zelda ocarina of time or majoras mask?

I heard that in majoras mask you can turn into a goron and a zora, but people still prefer ocarina of time. What are the differences between these 2 games?

They both have similar feels but the primary difference is that Ocarina of Time is open ended, take as much time as you want and whatever order you want. Majora's mask only gives you three days of in game time to do any level before the moon crashes into the world.

I think Majora's Mask is lot more fun and more challenging.

Ocarina of Time was the first expedition of Link in a 3-D world, and the game mechanics of Ocarina are heavily reproduced in Majora's Mask.

But there are key differences in gameplay and plot. Ocarina was Link's first adventure (that is, the Link in the case of these two games, though it is generally accepted OOT/MM are early in the timeline...I'm getting off-topic), and it concerned Princess Zelda, Ganondorf, and the Triforce. Link set out on a quest to protect the Triforce, and thusly can travel back and forth in time using the Master Sword. This game was all about epicness and Link's travel between his adulthood and childhood.

But in Majora's Mask, the motivation is quite different. Essentially, Link is searching for the fairy from Ocarina (Navi) and is cursed into a Deku body and brought to an alternate dimension with the imminent doom of the moon crashing in three days, due to a Skull Kid possessed by the demon Majora. After he regains his form, Link uses the Ocarina of Time (obviously, the namesake of the previous game) to live the same three days over and over until he finds a way to stop the moon. And as you noted, Link can turn into a Zora or Goron because two beings of these races (Darmani and Mikau, respectively) who ended up dying when ill fortune cast by Majora cost them their lives, and Link calmed their spirits so they could go to the next world; he then has the ability to inhabit their bodies. Incidentally, he can also turn into the Deku he was cursed into at the beginning at will, and you can assume later that this Deku was actually the son of the Deku Royal Family's butler (and the manga suggests he was a close friend of the Deku Princess). The whole game emnates this eerie feeling of doom, and the ending endeavors to confuse you even more. I suggest you look up "radio zelda" on YouTube if you can- its a commercial for this game that gives across its message amazingly well.

This is probably more than you wanted to know, but those are the key gameplay concepts and storylines behind the games, and thus the main difference.

There are many differences. This is only a partial list.

Oot (Ocarina of Time): Unlimited time and faster days

MM (Majora's Mask): Only three days that go by in 72 minutes (not each)

    OoT: 9 dungeons (including final)

    MM: 5 dungeons (+final)

OoT: Change between being young and adult

MM: Change between Deku Scrub, Goron, and Zora.

OoT: Sounds more like a Legend of Zelda game.

MM: The actual Zelda never appears, only in a flashback.

The button looks are different between each game.

OoT: There are only 8 masks.

MM: There is a whole section of the Pause menu devoted to masks.

OoT: In Hyrule, MM: In Termina

OoT: Vs. Ganon, MM: Vs: Majora's Mask and a big moon.

OoT: You can change your boots so that you can walk underwater or hover, while in the latter you can't.

OoT: Seems to have a pretty dark tone.

MM: The toning in Majora's Mask seems a little brighter.

OoT: Different items (fairy slingshot, boomerang, 4 bottles)

MM: Different items (powder keg, 7 bottles, Great Fairy Sword)

Bosses are easier in Ocarina of Time.

In Majoras Mask, people think you are under pressure, but you aren't (the whole three days thing) Majoras Mask allows to become an adult, but only after you earn all masks, In Majoras mask, you can turn into a goron, zora, deku, and Oni(adult link with white hair) I prefer it better

There are too many differences between these games to list here. It would be easier to list the similarities:

    1. The gameplay is very similar. The attacks, Z-Targeting, and C buttons are the same.

    2. Many of the characters from Ocarina of Time are in Majora's Mask, only they have different names and different personalities. Remember the cuccoo lady from Kakariko Village in OoT? She's a completely different person in MM.

    3. Music still plays a pretty big part in moving things along. Link still has the Ocarina of Time to help him out.

That's pretty much it. The games are COMPLETELY different from one another. I actually like MM more than OoT, just because MM is so much more challenging and involved.

i prefer majoras mask but ocarina is a classic. in majoras mask, you try to beat the game in 3 days (game time pretty fast) but you can use the ocarina either to slow, speed up, or go back in time. along the way, you can get masks that help you out (a goron and zora are included) to beat enemies, get items, and finish quests you couldn't do if you were normal. also, you can't become an adult or get the master sword and you get your ocarina stolen in the beginning and have to get it back in the first 3 days. in ocarina, you can turn into an adult, get the master sword, beat ganondorf, and overall it's an entirely different quest.

I prefered it when i got them on the free disc with gamecube.

You can turn adult on ocarina

But goron and zora on majora

Well i prefer orcarina for some reasons.

But the main one is in orcirina you DO NOT have a time limit. In majoras mask you have like 3 days to kill the guy
