Hanging a medicine cabinet?

I'm hanging a medicine cabinet and the only stud goes right down the center of where the medicine cabinet will be.

I expect the total weight of the cabinet, once it's filled, to be around 30 pounds. Can I secure the cabinet down the middle to the stud with four screws? Or do I HAVE to also anchor it to the drywall?

Thanks in advance

In order to do the see through the cabinet to the next apartment you have to recess it. Cut a hole in the wall add a shelf and an opening to the other side. Secure it all with screws.

Pre-drill the cabinet to accept two (2) screws into the existing stud. Use 2" screws. Anchoring at the 4 corners is not necessary (overkill really).

You should use the screws down the middle ... but you should also 'anchor' the medicine chest at all four corners for stability ... so use 'molly screws' at the corners, and just use regular screws down the middle along the stud.
