Try using the open source program True Crypt

It creates an encrypted file that when opened acts like an additional drive on your PC. Flies can be moved in and out of the drive like any other drive, but when the program is closed, everything is encrypted.

Just don't forget the password or the data will be gone forever.

Windows does not include built-in capability to password protect your files. If your looking for a free program to password protect your files and folders I recommend Truecrypt.

Truecrypt is a free open-source disk encryption software for Windows Vista/XP/2000 and Linux. CNET gives Truecrypt a 5 star rating so you know this software won't dissappoint you. Another alternative worth mentioning is SystemVault.
