hi can anyone help me find the history of the rock and roll band deep purple and where do i find it at.?

I'm interested in this band andwant to know if they are still active now today if they are,even today in this year of 2008.

    Search for information on lead singer Ian Gillan. He is still performing and making new music as well as performing Deep Purple songs. I actually got a chance to see him a couple summers ago. He's well into his 60's and still kicks a**!!!!!
