What phrase should i use to end my essay?

Long time ago an English teacher wrote down a short and easy scheme for an essay:

1. Tell them what you are going to tell them

2. Tell them what you tell them

3. Tell them what you told them

Or in other words - first in a few sentences explain what the whole essay is all about. Then expand the topic, prove your points and so on. Finally once again write in a few sentences what point you just made and how....

You said you can't summarize? Not sure why, whatever you said, has to be reinforced in the end.

Foe example if you write about the behavior of birds you observed, you can finish with something like "So, as you have seen throughout the essay - birds are not as narrow minded as one could imagine. They can easily distinguish between a friend and a foe, and will not fall for the predators tricks easily."

Well it would be a lot easier for us to help you if we knew what the essay was about? You could end with something along the lines of "Et celui est pourquoi je suis d'accord/je ne suis pas d'accord avec cette affirmation/opinion" (translation: and that is why I agree/I disagree with this statement/opinion) I hope this helps! I know I hate writing french essays!

End with something that would make the reader think about what you just wrote. Further more...blah blah blah, In addition, blah blah blah...put your opinion in there. I am assuming you are doing the five paragraph essay for beginners and yes - to write "In conclusion" will most likely warrant an automatic C for starters...

All in all...

Restate the main idea of your essay with better details.

Say some cutesy phrase that sounds convincing (if the essay is persuasive that is).

Summarize your essay into one paragraph.

Okay well mainly make the reader want to know more. You can end up saying in conclusion or whatnot....etc...it really doesn't matter as long as you can put a great sentence together. Just make the reader or whoever is grading it want to know more about what your talking about.

To make the essay end WELL you would need to give us more information.

Therefore?
