Is it FRYday yet?

I pull in from the long road, after hours droned through the dark,

I set the brakes, hear the hiss, as if something is dying, as I park.

I click the radio button, as I scan the front of the diner,

and signal anyone listening, "I'm outta here; Ninety Niner"

I move past some guys leaning, enjoying a pre-highway smoke,

and overhear a way too early, short skirt, waitress joke.

As I make a way to the counter I see my set up prepared,

while others seated close look on, but not as if they cared.

I'm greeted by my favorite night owl; my crisp uniformed hauntress.

She smiles as she pours coffee, in her pale blue, yellow trimmed dress.

I return the smile remove my cap, and politely nod a "Good Morning Barb."

"It's been a long haul, just bring me some ketchup, and a major basket of Carbs."
