Pick 2 NASCAR drivers to drive an IndyCar?
OK ... This is something just for fun, and all open-wheel haters should be mindful of their responses. Please take time to think before submitting your response.
You own a 2-car IndyCar team, and have equipment / engineers equivalent to those of Penske, Ganassi, AGR, etc. Your current responsiblity is to choose *any* two current NASCAR drivers to pilot your machines. Which two drivers do you choose and why?
Response Rules:
** No contract negotiations necessary. If you ask them, they say "Yes"
** Previous winners of the Indy 500 are OUT. However, all other open-wheel experienced drivers are available for selection (includes T. Stewart, R. Gordon, J. Andretti, & others I've missed)
** KEY POINT: If you already see your desired combination posted - choose another combination. This will keep suggestions fresh - you snoose, you lose.
Best response and reasoning behind submission will receive the "Best Answer" and associated pts. Good Luck!

Montoya and K. Busch. They are both aggressive and fresh in intimidation and aren't afraid to take chances which is what you need when running cars in any type of racing event.

Tony Stewart & Robby Gordon
While Tony has had more success in NASCAR as a driver, both of these guys can easily lay claim as this generation's A.J. Foyt. Both guys can drive whatever car they get into, and can drive even a so-so car into victory lane.
Whether they drive in the Daytona 500, the Dakar Rally, Baja 1000, Indy 500, Billy Bob's Backyard horse-drawn buggy race...whatever...it doesn't matter what they drive. These two guys will be there at the end battling for the win.
Now that Tony George has unified the IRL & Champ Car, he needs to bring in more high profile talent, and these two guys would be my top picks.

Stewart and Carpentier.
Stewart's had experience in an IndyCar and I think he'll try to win the Indy 500 some more. He'd probably do the double every year if Indy hadn't pushed the start time back. Carpentier's raced sports cars and the former ChampCar series cars and he'd probably run good there as well.

Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards
Tony has experience in the sport of open wheel racing. Carl Edwards comes from the open wheel dirt track days also, so I would pick those two. If I could have a third choice i'd take Kyle Busch because of his tenacity and aggression. He's a very fast racer, who can go from the high side to the low side in a heart beat. It'd be fun to watch him race in the IRL.
1. Tony Stewart
2. Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch (undecided)

Jeff Gordon and Robby Gordon - J. Gordon grew up with open-wheel aspirations, had that public "test" session of an F1 car a few years back and I believe could transition quickly into a championship contender....if it wasn't for the gas tank running dry in that final lap, R. Gordon would have an Indy 500 title; he could run up-front with little practice in the hot-rods.

Kenny Wallace and Jimmy Spencer Because the league needs someone with Pazazz

I would pick Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman. I think Jimmie could wheel a open wheel car around real good and Ryan Newman has that engineering degree from Purdue and he knows the phisics of how that stuff works.

Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon would have been my first choice, but since that's been taken...Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson?

Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon
I would bring Dario Franchitti and Sam Hornish Jr. back to the IRL to drive though!!!!! God, why did they go DOWN to NASCAR instead of going UP to F1???!!!!!!! Dario made 4 million dollars last year, so I don't know why he would need more money if that was the reason.
