Remember when cops had more of a sense of humor when it came to petty crimes or just plain old American fun?!?

I'm talking about drag racing and/or speeding and they would join in or supervise, etc... Get caught with a joint and they would take a toke with you---someone gets their *** kicked and if witnesses convinced the officer it was overdue they laughed about it themselves....call me crazy!!!

Update:

This question/statement---to make an analogy---is like a commercail: no matter how "stupid & crazy" it may be---it got your attention, so it worked!!! I have to be honest---just bored and day dreaming like Opie--good one!!!

I agree with you on this.

I think that in real small towns, it still may be a little like that. Everyone know every one and look out for them.

It is sad that people can not look at the little things that are important and be happy.

I think I would rather be in May berry talking to "Opie" than deal with some of the cops that have this ego and always seem to be Sarcastic when responding to a question that is asked in a sincere way, like say, say "Psdiver" .

That was back in a land before time days. Now there are people crashing planes into buildings, bombing subways, devising biological weapons, shooting out high schools in Colorado, thrill killing just to see what its like, poisoning Tylenol as a "joke".

So you miss the nostalgia of the good old days when you could smoke a joint while drag racing with the officer to go and see the local bully get his A*S kicked....sorry, you're not in Mayberry anymore, OPIE!!!

Those were the days when people took resposibility for their own action and didn't sue the police and the city for not stopping their stupid punk a** kids from drag racing and killing themselves. Now days it would be the fault of the police because you dont have any brain cells left.

As a matter of fact I do. It wasn't just cops though it was everyone. Everyone was a little less uptight. Kids could ride their bikes without armor and "kids could be kids". You could go toilet paper a house without being arrested for criminal damage, vandalism, etc. Wow, things are not any safer now but there are a lot more rules and a lot more anger. That sucks.

No, I can't honestly say I remember police officers doing any of those things!

I do know that today, with active Internal Affairs divisions in every police departments and Civilian Review Boards becoming more popular ... any officer who did these things today would be taking a chance with their badge and job.

These days cops just have too much fun tasering people for no reason. They also seem to get a cheap thrill out of grabbing people out of their wheelchairs and throwing them onto the street to get run over.

Their lives have changed, and the pressure

I always appreciated a nice cop, but didn't expect it
