A Bikers Creed?

I ride because it is fun.

I ride because I enjoy the freedom I feel from being exposed to the elements, and the vulnerability to the danger that is intrinsic to riding.

I do not ride because it is fashionable to do so.

I ride my machine, not wear it. My machine is not a symbol of status. It exists simply for me, and me alone.

My machine is not a toy. It is an extension of my being, and I will treat it accordingly, with the same respect as I have for myself.

I strive to understand the inner-workings of my machine, from the most basic to the most complex.

I strive to constantly better my skill of control over my machine. I will learn its limits, and use my skill to become one with my machine so that we may keep each other alive.

I am the master, it is the servant. Working together in harmony, we will become an invincible team.

Do all Bikers agree?

Update:

I agree Tom, I think the ones who just dont get the ...

Update 2:

ride what you can when you can"

Love it, , the say only a rider understands why dogs stick there head out the window

Update 3:

tassscott: The creed was copied from multiple sites, its been around for quite a while, point I am trying to make is respect others who ride, Most of us do it for the same reason, we love to ride, in other words look for the similarities instead of the differences

    RIGHT ON!!!!!

I agree with you. I wish all who read this would think this as well. I hate the Harley/Metric bashing, We should ride what we please, let the others ride what they please, and respect their right to do so. It is each man for his bike, he does not have to be concerned what what others ride, It does not make a man any more or less a man for what he rides.

I have been a rider since 1952, a total of about 6 months during this time without a bike. About 1/2 million miles so far.

I have operated a repair facility since 1955. I do major repairs mostly, blown up engines, boring, sleeving, valve seats. welding of broken cases, heads, etc. Have worked on most brands at some time. good things about most of them, some bad things from all of them. Harleys from the old 125cc bikes of old, to the Twin Cams of today. A few Indians, of old. English bikes, a few BMW's, and most Japanese bikes. I ride Metric, an old ZX11, mostly. I can afford most any bike I want, but this old ZX11 does what I want, It is 1109cc, 12:1 CR, some porting, 4>1 pipe, dual ram air, has noticably more horsepower than stock, but is a pleasure to ride under most any condition. Puts around town OK, cruises on the interstate at whatever speed you like, and easily hits 185-190 on the back roads when I please. Not sure what it will do top end, do not have long enough stretch for that.

I welcome Harleys in my shop, as much as any other, we are (should be) all brothers, so lets act like it.

    Tomcotexas,

Source(s): Sorry for the long blurb about me, and my toys, but bikes have been my life since 1952. There is a lot more I could tell, places I have been, things I have done, but most would not believe it unless you knew me. I am 74 years, and still going strong in my shop. You are welcome, no matter what you ride.

I'm nearing 25K on my knobby shod alpine-run mule but I'd

be total boor if the Yamaha certified mechanic and his part

catalogs were denied due credit for making most of my fun

happen. I'm there for the ride. I'll happily let a better man

keep my machinery up to snuff. I also carry a first aid kit in

case the invincible stuff wears off.

    Ride Hard,

    live Fast,

    Die last.

Be master of your own destiny.

    Ride Fast

    Live Hard

    Die first

Be responcible for your own disability

My bike gets me from here to there and back again. Stop trying to make it such a noble event to ride a bike.
