Is it Too late, or Too early?

As a youth I sat and endured all I could stand, reminding myself of a purpose

regarding PRO-nouns, and ANTI-verbs

but probably spent too much time dangling a participle.

My teacher looked better in the Flamenco dress I drew

defacing the cover of my book. $25 for this?

than that high neck, tight collar, Laura Engles Frock;

but she had pretty eyes, a smile to knock school boys from their seats

and it was an elective situation, so not everyone paid attention,

when she slipped into Argentinian, "CHICLE!, Donde Este?"

Then holding out her hand, walking the aisles, she slipped back

into, "Spit it now, and tell me where this Author is going."

I rarely knew, but chewed every day, just to have her take my gum.

I did learn a lot however, from Ms. Fuentes. Such things as I find delightful still,

like Rythmn, Rhyme, Not looking at the time,

but they were good times had by all that fall, in Creative Writing 101.
