feline cancer?
my cat recently diganosed with feline cancer and died last week. I did more research and found out that it can be passed to another cat. I am scared that it may be passed to my dog. I want to know if that is possible? I will call vet monday to ask...but for now...just to ease my mind over the weekend, I wanted to ask here. thanks.
maybe perhaps I am mistaken on the word here...It is some sort of feline virus something like feline leukemia???
can THAT be passed from cats to dogs?

Cancer can't be passed from cat to cat but Leukemia can, it's a virus that spreads with saliva and body secretions.
However it's a cat disease and won't be passed to canines. You can still call your vet and ask, but they'll tell you the same thing--cat specific diseases mean just that--only cats can get them.

I just had a cat pass away from feline leukemia 2 days ago. I have 2 more cats at home, and they both have been taken to the vet and they both don't have feline leukemia. I don't believe that it will be passed on to your dog. Don't worry about it. I am sure your dog will be fine. So sorry about your loss. :(:(:(:(:(

If it was a regular type of cancer, then no, it can't be passed on to other cats. It is not contagious. If you're talking about feline leukemia, then yes, it can be passed on to other cats. It is highly contagious.

I doubt highly that feline leukemia can be transmitted to dogs, as they do not have a vaccine for dogs for feline leukemia. Dogs have diseases that are specific to their own species... rest assured your doggie will be fine... I am so sorry to hear about your kitty... be well.

Cancer is not contagious. Not between same species animals and not between different species.
Feline lukemia cannot be passed to dogs. If you have other cats they should likely be checked out by a vet though.
